Farm Life

Meet Sunny

Why, Good Morning to you and yours! It is a very good morning here on the Farm. We are just wrapping up on harvesting (although there are a few potatoes still in the ground). And with that has, as always, led to thoughts of next year. As in …what will we grow next year …who will we see …what will we do… and other such ramblings. Now, the first one is easy. Exactly what we grew this year, with the addition of the beans (we left those out this year, because we still had so many left after last year). The garden filled us up all summer and left us all we need to last the Winter through–who could want for more than that? Who we will see is trickier, because so many people we love have moved away. We couldn’t possibly see them all in one Summer–not if we’re going to get any Farming in. So, it’s a yes to Dorrie, my bestest of best friends in Virginia, and yes to the folks in the Addirondacks. A no to my brother Jeff in Florida (wayyyy too hot in Florida in the Summer if you ask me, that one will have to happen come winter-time), and a no to our daughter Mikaela in Texas for much of the same reasons, but hopefully she’ll see fit to coming home to the Farm (where she belongs), and a possibly yes to my sister Emily in Wyoming, because my work is sending me out to Denver in August, so why not. And finally, what we will do. We WILL be having a Farm party next Summer. We will be going to Camp Pioneer. Oh. And speaking of camping. We will be doing a bit of that, too. Which leads me to….(drum roll please…)

Sunny.

Please allow me to make the introductions. She’s a ’63 Shasta thirteen footer, who has made her way into our family just recently. Now. I know she doesn’t look like much now, but just you wait. Over this fall and winter, she’s getting scrubbed down and fitted up with a new floor, new paint, stripped-down-then-polished-up cabinets and walls, and then recaulked, refitted, and rehung with just-a-bout everything else until she’s all ready to have some adventures with us next Summer. I can hardly wait. I’ll keep you up-to-date on the progress. Until then, any suggestions on camping sites would be much appreciated. I’m new to all of this.

Take care!
